The Boat..

David S. (Bud) McIntosh built this “Down East” cruiser in 1976 to be used to explore the coast of Maine and beyond. Bud designed and built wooden boats of exquisite quality for nearly fifty years- Sandpiper is a testament to his abilities.
In 2009, Paul Rollins, a celebrated boatbuilder in York, Maine, became the owner and caretaker. During his stewardship of the Sandpiper, Paul did extensive work on the boat while also completing many cruises onboard from Maine to the Bahamas.

The boat was purchased in 2022 by her current owners Meredith Spratt and Logan Livingston who continue to maintain and enjoy the splendors of this beautiful boat.

Who We Are

Meredith and Logan met in 2010 in Lunenburg, Nova Scotia while working on a 200 foot square rigged sail training vessel, sailing around the world.

For the past thirteen years they have been working together on traditional, classic and modern yachts as well as pursuing their own paths in the maritime field.

Having sailed and seen the world together Meredith and Logan always had Maine in mind for when it was time to come ashore. Settling in Damariscotta in 2020 they are continually drawn and endlessly awestruck by the soft rolling hill the ever changing ebb and flow of the Damariscotta river.

They both thought they would own a sailboat together, but their dreams came true in a slightly different style of boating when they bought Sandpiper. They fully enjoy showing people the beauty of the Damariscotta river and look forward to having you onboard.

Brieanne Buckey

Mate/  Captain

Brie was born in Maine and grew up in Jamestown, RI where her playground was the Narragansett Bay. In 2018 she migrated south to warmer waters of the Virgin Islands where she got her first job as a deckhand on a sailboat and hasn’t been off the water since.

She has completed several offshore deliveries from the east coast to the Caribbean on various types of sailboats and also worked as a commercial fisherman in Southeast Alaska.

Brie has spent the last two years working on the sailing yacht Eros and recently upgraded to her 100 ton masters license. Although sailing is her passion, she is just excited to work a little closer to home in the waters that she first fell in love with.
